Coastal Garden, Berwickshire
A barn conversion on the Berwickshire coast with a commanding vista from Fife to Northumberland.
In the first phase of this project, I have landscaped a focal border, added to an existing shelter belt and designed a long successional planting of well-adapted perennials and ornamental grasses with a palette inspired by its surroundings.
The long term plan for this phased project (work to start in 2025 - see concept plan image below) includes a gravel garden and entertaining space where the clients can relax and enjoy the transient changes in this relaxed and weathered design.
““The scheme has become the highlight of our garden, and certainly has provided texture and form and a wonderful area to look out upon within the first year. I was sure we would have to wait a few years to achieve what you have managed. I have always loved swathes of planting - but I never thought that would be possible with the challenges faced by this coastal environment.”
