Small Town Garden, Roxburghshire
A sympathetic modern build with a strong relationship to its surrounding garden, looking over the Teviot water.
Situated on the edge of a quiet village this quarter of an acre site was planted by experienced landscape designer Nick Burton. Since 2020, I have been working closely with the client; developing a focal entertaining space, consulting on changes to planting schemes, introducing a number of ornamental and edible climbers, and establishing a sustainable long-term maintenance plan.
We have recently designed a small private garden to service a retreat space to the North of the property, extending a textural planting of shade-loving perennials and introducing accent trees and shrubs to extend the seasonal interest.
“Thanks to the breadth of Duncan’s expertise and creativity as a plantsman my garden is an exquisite kaleidoscope of colour and texture throughout the seasons … and increasingly so each year. It is a delight and I am deeply grateful.”
