Town Garden, Scottish Borders
A small town garden in the Scottish Borders.
The brief for this private garden was to create a feature entrance way and redesign a dilapidated rockery which encloses the property to the rear. In this, I have selected a tapestry of plants with a long season of interest in which theme plants such as, Astrantia ‘Gill Richardson’ and Astrantia major ‘Shaggy’ intermingle amongst a matrix of grasses providing much needed cohesion to both front and back garden.
The terrace by the house which enjoys a south-westerly aspect now includes a raised dry stone planting feature with a warm themed planting of burgundy and amber, and shows off a Snowy Mespilus tree which gives height and dappled shade to the space.
